Through her TED Talk, book, and then Lean In Circles, Sheryl Sandberg has forced thousands of women to contemplate this one question: What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
It’s no secret and no surprise that women are constantly underrepresented in leadership roles. The book, Lean In, explores this and focuses on encouraging women to pursue their ambitions and on changing the conversation from what what they can’t do to what they can do.
LeanIn.org is the next chapter - the not-for-profit organization that was the result of the book. The Lean In Circle approach is just one of the many ways LeanIn.org is changing the conversation. Lean In Circles are small groups of people who meet regularly to learn from one another and grow. Lean In Circles are all about harnessing the power of peer support.
I’ve been fortunate to lead and moderate 2 different Lean In circles. Through these circles, I’ve learnt many valuable lessons about taking control of one's career and taking it to the next level. I’ll be sharing some of these lessons through future posts. Look out for articles with the lean_in_series tag.
In case you’re wondering, what I would do if I weren’t afraid…I’d start a blog.
